Long time, no see! I know it’s been a LONG time since you’ve seen me. We’ve been busy here in South Korea, trying to live it up as much as possible.

I’ve also been updating all of my resources to have my new logo. Wow. It has been a HUGE task, but I know it will be worth it in the end.
Now let’s get on with talking about math choice boards!
If you’ve never used choice boards, you need to check them out! They are the perfect way to bring differentiation, creativity, and student choice to your classroom.

I LOVE using choice boards in the classroom. Seriously love. And I’m not the only one who loves them….my students love them too. They love being able to choose how they show what they’ve learned. I am always amazed at the creativity that pours from their projects. If they are great at art, they can choose a project that focuses more on art. If they have mad computer skills, they can choose to do a computer project.
Included are two different choice board versions of each topic…one where the choice boards are similar so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel and students know exactly what to do while you work with small groups (and don’t have to answer question after question) and one where the choice boards have more variety. So you get to choose as well!
For differentiation, there are so many variations to use these boards.
- For your students with special needs, you can narrow their choices; for example, from 9 choices to 3 choices
- You can have your students work individually or with partners
- You can have them do as many or as little as you want
- You can enforce that students do one particular choice board before doing others
- You can assign them as classwork or homework
- You can assign students at lower levels to work with students at higher levels
Look at some examples of the choice board projects your students could be doing. Aren’t those just so much better than a worksheet?
Differentiation is the buzz word these days in education. Choice boards are THE way to bring it to your classroom!
