These Bloom’s Question Stems are the perfect way to bring critical thinking and higher level thinking to your classroom! Use these question stems to have your students come up with their own higher level questions and watch their critical thinking soar to new heights! You can use them with ANY SUBJECT.
I have combined all the Bloom’s question stems I have ever found into this set. There are over 300 question stems included. That’s a lot of questioning! Each level is a separate color, so it’s easy to differentiate between the 6 levels.
I left room in the top left corner of each card if you wanted to hole punch them and keep them on a ring.
Students and teachers can both use these question stems to create higher level questions. These are great for whole class, small groups, partner work, station activities, and individual work.
I taught my students how to use Bloom’s question stems to create their own higher level questions. The more they created them, the better they understood what they were asking and looking for, which helped them think critically. My students came up with some great creative questions, ones that I wouldn’t have even thought of. They loved it!
Some of the ways I have used them:
• Small groups – in reading and in math
• Station activities – in reading, I had my students read a book or a passage and then create at least 2 questions from each level. Then they had to answer each question.
• Science and Social Studies – after reading pages out of the textbook, I had my students work with their partners to create at least 2 questions from each level. Then they had to answer each question. We would then share and discuss the questions that the students came up with.
• Sending them home with parents so they could create higher level thinking questions with their child (really helps in tests, especially state tests)
I also have the UK version where “analyzing” is spelled “analysing”:
